Returned shipments of refused, damaged or rejected cargo, or shipments for exhibits at trade fairs, shows or expositions,
when returned to the port of origin will be assessed the same rate (Tariff Rate Item-TRI) as assessed on the original
movement, providing that such rate is lower than the prevailing rate.
Exception: Dominican Republic: Returned shipments of refused, damaged or rejected cargo, when returned to the port of origin
will be assessed at 75% of the Ocean Freight charged on the original movement. All additional accessorial charges will apply.
In order for the returned shipment to be eligible for the same rate as assessed on the original movement, the following must occur:
1) The returned shipment must occur within one year
2) The returned movement must be made over the same carrier performing the original movement.
3) A copy of the original bill of lading showing the rate assessed must be presented to the carrier.
