A request for reconsignment or diversion of a
shipment, within the scope of this tariff, to effect a change in the name or
address of a Consignor or Consignee, a change in the destination or place of
delivery, or a change of billing necessary
to effect delivery, will be accepted, subject to the following conditions:
1. Request for reconsignment or diversion must be made in writing and the
Carrier must be satisfied that the party
making the request has the authority to do so. Conditional or qualified requests
for reconsignment or diversion will
not be accepted.
2. A shipment which has been delivered to the Carrier and inadvertently
misdirected at Shipper/Supplier's instructions
can be diverted at destination at the cost of transporting the freight plus 15%.
A shipment will be reconsigned
according to the charges listed in Rule 2.135. A shipment may not be reconsigned,
diverted, or reshipped in
violation of an embargo.
3. Only entire shipments (not portions of any shipments) may be reconsigned or
diverted.
4. Carrier will make diligent efforts to execute valid reconsignment or
diversion orders, but will not be responsible,
despite such efforts, if reconsignment or diversion is not effected.
5. A shipment consigned "to order", or consigned in any other manner which
imposes upon the Carrier the obligation
not to make delivery or permit diversion except upon surrender of original Bill
of Lading may be diverted or
reconsigned in advance only under the provisions of the Carrier's tariff rules
governing the delivery of shipments
consigned "to order".
